Why Go There? Recreated Gravity Car, interpretive display, memorabilia highlight history of a popular steam train and gravity cars that once glided down from the top of Mt. Tamalpais to Muir Woods on tracks of what was called "the crookedest railroad". On clear days, enjoy views down to the ocean, across the bay and parts of Marin. A number of trails start from the (fee) parking lot, including one to the base of the fire tower lookout; restrooms; seasonal visitor center (staffed by Friends of Mt.
