Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge Visitor Center - East of Plush/Southwest of Frenchglen
Location: From Lakeview take Highway 395 north approximately five miles, right (east) on Highway 140, left at well-marked intersection 39 miles to Plush (last stop for gas, groceries), several more miles following sign, paved road becomes improved gravel road 36 miles to the refuge headquarters. From French Glen a longer route on Harney County Road 412, a gravel/dirt road to the refuge headquarters.
Why Go There? An office with area information, a few displays, restrooms and water is open 24 hours a day; gateway stop for hot springs/campground (bring own water, primitive toilet), pronghorn antelope viewing (hopefully!) and hikes, including Warner Peak and views beyond.

Malheur Wildlife Refuge Museum, Visitor Center - Southwest of Crane
Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:00pm
Location: 35 miles south of Burns/Hines via State Highway 205 (or from Frenchglen) or from State Highway 78 at Princeton via the Princeton-Narrows gravel road
Why Go There? Historic taxidermy mounts of many birds viewed in the refuge; interpretive exhibits; Friends of Malheur Nature Shop (volunteer staffed weekdays, Saturdays during summer season), information desk; views of wildlife and expansive view of Malheur Lake
